Full Day School Visit Four energetic presentations (45-60 mins each) -Discussion of my books -What it’s like to be a writer -Slide presentation -Signed bookmarks for every student -An autograph session -Books available to buy Cost: $600-$700* (*$700 for locations 50+ miles outside of Englewood, NJ)
Writing Residency -1 class visit (45-60 mins); 2 “virtual” visits -Students email their fiction or non-fiction drafts -I visit with students to discuss their drafts, research techniques, voice, pacing, organization, etc. -Students return revisions over the course of the school year -I edit and write detailed notes to students and teacher via email Cost: $600-$700* (*$700 for locations 50+ miles outside of Englewood, NJ)
What I Need -Students and teachers who are very familiar with my work prior to my visit -Students ready with questions -A table to set up my computer and projector -A nearby plug or extension cord -Something solid white to project onto -A chair -Lots of water (I parch easily) -Lunch (for a full day visit) -Travel expenses for locations 50+ miles outside of Englewood, NJ
Why You Want Me Since I got my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from NYU, I have been dedicated to students, education, and literature. I taught all grades from Pre-K to 6^th grade as a teacher’s assistant, a substitute teacher, and as a head teacher so I’m always ready for surprises and know how to capture students’ attention and interest. I left teaching to become an editor for an educational publisher in New York. I worked mainly on 3^rd grade Reading and Language Arts anthologies, choosing wonderful fiction and non-fiction literature that met reading requirements and incorporated all subject areas. I worked with the publication Time for Kids to create non-fiction articles that met state standards for math, reading, science and social studies. After my years of teaching and working in educational publishing, I am now dedicated to writing full time (when my children let me). When I visit your school, I am a teacher first. I make my presentations entertaining, educational and inspiring.
