Bio

I was born in Trinidad, the last island in the Caribbean.  Almost my entire family lived within walking distance from each other.

This is me in my school uniform.  I loved that bookbag!

When I was fifteen, my family moved to Brooklyn, NY.  I finished high-school, and went to NYU.  It took me a little while to get used to living in a big city.  Here I am at my first graduation ceremony.  I stayed at NYU for another year and a half to get my Masters Degree in Education.

Then I became a teacher.  I loved teaching.  My favorite grade to teach was 2nd grade because most kids really learn how to read that year.  When I left teaching, I edited reading anthologies and language arts textbooks for 3rd grade teachers and their students.

Now my husband and I live in Englewood, NJ, with our two children.  When I’m not running after my kids, I write.

Okay, sometimes they run after me, too.
